The snow always looks so beautiful and serene once the storm ends and the su comes out. Thanks for visiting - there are mine workings still around, but many areas are being developed and the construction companeis deal with any problems. The bings themselves are protected areas as they have become important naturalised habitats with a wide biodiversity. Cheers
If you decide to look up Dakota Group-- here's a hint. You'll do better just searching for Dakota sandstone. Here's a really good link that will give you a sense of the area. Wikipedia also has entries for Dakota hogback (basically a sharp ridge) and Dakota sandstone. It's pretty neat--dinosaur footprints and everything!
I'm jealous of the snow that you've got over there. We usually have a lot at this time of year but not now. The sun is hiding too. Your photo have both things and it makes a great combination! :)
Three Rivers is a small city in the U.S. midwest, halfway between Detroit and Chicago. A beautiful day after the storm.
Very nice, and great color. You are lucky to have so many big rivers... ours are few and far between.
Thanks for stopping by at FF!
Gorgeous photo! The river looks wonderful and such a lovely sky!

Good luck.
Sunny and bright but oh so cold!!! But, not cold enough for ice fishing!
Gorgeous! So balanced-- blue on top and bottom with the sky and the water, and white on top and bottom with the clouds and the snow. Perfect!
Nothing's better that a beautiful sunny day after a storm. I like how the water looks... if is still water!
That is a beautiful photo. It looks as though the water has frozen in parts. I can smell the cold!
Neat the way your header shot and skywatch are basically of the same area different season. Have a great day
Great photo! Love the blues and whites in both the sky and earth.
