Power of water


Water thunders over an abandoned power dam on the Portage River after a rain. The dam is called "Boys Dam". For more than a hundred years it has been a popular "secret swimming hole" among local children .

News flash: horses poop


Breaking local news as reported by our ever watchful newspaper.

Another paper reports that the state is now pulling out twenty miles of newly installed "rumble strip" in the area - uneven pavement at the edge of the road that makes a loud noise when you drive over it, the theory being that it will prevent sleepy drivers from crashing into the ditch. Alas, it frightens the horses -- causing buggy crashes!

Carnegie Fall Show


Today was the opening of several new shows at the Carnegie Center for the Arts in downtown Three Rivers. The opening reception was well attended.

This photo is taken from the mezzanine, through the circular opening that allows light from the stained glass window in the roof to reach the first floor. This part of the center is the original Carnegie Library.
