Passing by
On the highway yesterday, in traffic, we were passed by -- a horse-drawn Amish buggy! Old order, best in black & white. In the background is a gas (petrol) station -- something the oat-burner gets to skip.

And you can feed the roses.
Your blog and photos are terrific. I really like your Halloween scene and beautiful colors of autumn. The Amish buggy IS perfect in black and white.
Three Rivers looks like a very nice town and your River Country Journal should be very proud you are showcasing your piece of Michigan to the world.
Thanks for visiting Tampa DP and leaving a nice comment. Much appreciated.
A very appropriate post today - just learnt that an old friend is going into a hospice soon.
Great Amish buggy! We see them in Harmony, Minnesota and sometimes when driving in Wisconsin to visit my parents.
(We have "Amish cable" at home - only 20 t.v. channels)
Even the clouds cooperated for your monochrome photo. Great capture! It pays to have your camera handy - even when in the car!
Great choice for black and white.
Well composed...black and white works very well for things Amish.
The only trouble with "oat burners" is you don't get very far very fast...
A nice shot of the buggy, the modern gas station in the background adds a nice contrast.
You captured its beautifully in B&W.
Great & Thanks for sharing.
thank you for ypur comment ;)
... alot of cool pics on your blog, i'll stop by again soon ;)
What a perfect picture for the topic. We used to see the Amish around here often. I still find them so interesting and really peaceful in a way.

Great photo.. I am a police dispatcher and at a training an officer said how he got in pursuit with a horse..dispatcher asks "repeat" he says H-O-R-S-E..
Overtaken by a horse and buggy! I trust the horse wasn't speeding. A good photo - the white on the rear of the carriage makes it stand out.
I don't think there are Amish people in Australia. Is it true they don't pay tax?

Thanks everyone for the comments! Yes, the Amish pay taxes - but they are exempt from Social Security/government funded old-age pensions taxes since they do not take them for religious reasons. They pay all other taxes.
