Just so wrong (funny, though)

This is especially for Julie in Sydney who wants a climate-appropriate Christmas - as a child growing up in California I was always mystified by the fake snow painted on home and shop windows, by "flocked" Christmas trees, and especially by the paper cutout snowflakes we made in school, despite the fact that none of the children knew what snowflakes were.

In that vein, here is a "snowman" I just found on the beach near my mom's house, wool muffler, mittens, greenery - but made of sand! No, this isn't Three Rivers, the 3RDailyPhoto has been visiting family in California.

Have a happy and safe New Year's celebration!

What a wonderful post! I love the colors, the image is great, and nice text! I grew up in Southern California, but at least there was snow in the mountains at Christmas. Now in Oregon I see a lot more snow; I often think what it would be like living where the seasons are opposite. This post is so perfect!

Great shot! - yes this season is best spent somewhere south and sunny.

That is funny! I don't know about you, but Illinois was a bit of a shock after 2 weeks in Florida. Ick...why do we live in the Midwest?

A sandman is scarier than a snowman, but your idea is just too funny!

Have a Happy New Year!

We have styrofoam snowmen displayed at the malls too! But living in a tropical island, I've never seen one made of sand before :D

Happy New Year!!

Wishing you and yours the very best 2010.

Hilarious!

Great shot! It's clearly not taken in the greater Michiana area. The absence of overcast leaden grey skies and snow are dead giveaways.

oh, a travesty of a snowman! But oh, such a beautiful beach! North of SF?
It is snowing here in SW MI :)

I love this! As an Illinois girl transplanted to California, it's right up my alley. You must be in northern California. Hope you're enjoying it.

A very different snowman compared to the snowy couple I posted today!
