August 1, Three Rivers Farmers' Market

An Amish family (old order, horse-and-buggy people) that sell their produce at the Farmers' Market tie up their horse in the shade of some big oaks by the St. Joseph River. Across the water is a park and the local canoe livery. This area has a very large Amish population, not on the usual tourist track.

I don't know anything about the Amish other than what I've seen in pictures, movies and TV shows. Do they allow visitors?

Welcome to the CDPB community!

I went through all of your past posts just to take a peek at what I've missed. Love the fountain and mural in your July 28 post. Very pretty.

Are the horses allowed to watch TV?

Kris - Now that's an image, the horses in their stalls, each with their own little portable TV (rabbit ears sticking out the top) while the family sits in the house, reading their Bible by candlelight...

Thank you, Hilda!
