Waiting for Summer

A cheery reminder of warmer days to come, the closed popcorn stand in the grey and snowy park waits for the summer children.

cheery indeed!
beautifully composed and shot!

in reply to your query on my post, the line on the right is of taxis queuing up and clogging the lane further!

This reminds me of a constant theme here in Syracuse, too: that of waiting...the playgrounds and ballfields, museums in the parks, all waiting for summer. To answer your question about RAW, yes it was darker. But the awesome thing is that unlike JPEG, in RAW every ounce of detail remains. With JPEG, "extra" information like grays similar in value to other nearby grays get tossed. It likes to take an average. Thanks for your comment.

That is a neat looking popcorn stand. I bet it is busy too. I like the color against the snow.

Popcorn would taste mighty good in winter! Just need some customers.

«Louis» doesn't plan on waiting 'til it warms up for the popcorn stand to open!

(You did succeed in making him hungry for popcorn with this! Where's the Jiffypop?!)

How cute is that! I'll bet this is a popular spot in the summer.

Such a striking shot on an otherwise grey day.

Well, you've got to admit it tends to brighten up those gray winter days; and reinforces the notion that summer is on the way and its presence makes us confident it will be there when we wnat to celebrate the onslaught of warmer weather...

Nice composition!

Louie, Louie, forget the Jiffy Pop, please and do it the old fashioned way -- the popcorn tastes so much better!
And what a cheerful site! Thanks!

A little melancholy and poignant!
